Decreasing Time Poverty

In off-grid and remote communities
Eco-friendly and off-grid tech to reduce domestic burden
Introducing a simple, electricity-free washing machine that can utilize collected rainwater or river water to clean clothes in communities where manual washing is prevalent.
The primary goal of this initiative is to provide a sustainable, low-cost solution to alleviate the physical burden and time consumption of manual clothes washing.
Our goal is to implement change using engineering and community level initiatives to create impactful change while considering the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The TerraWash machine is the result of ongoing engineering and design innovation, developed with consideration of the unique needs of off-grid and limited-resource communities. Through multiple prototypes, we have refined each iteration to ensure ease of use, durability, efficient in off-grid settings. Every TerraWash machine design carefully integrates local customs, daily routines, and environmental conditions to create a solution that is both practical and culturally respectful.
Engineering and Design
TerraWash machine is a charitable initiative to design and distribute electricity-free washing machines to underserved communities. The goal is to significantly reduce the time and physical burden of manual laundry - an unpaid task that disproportionately impacts women and girls. Globally, women in developing countries spend an average of 6-8 hours per day on domestic chores, with up to 40% of that time dedicated to hand-washing clothes.
Supporting Women and Girls
TerraWash Global Association is a registered Canadian NGO focusing on gender equity, education for women and girls in an eco-friendly and sustainable way.
