Founder and Project LeadRhiya Armogan is propelled by her dedication and commitment to drive real-world changes. As an equestrian, she has competed against seasoned riders years her senior, where she has learned that mastery comes from a seamless integration of discipline, dedication and commitment. This philosophy mirrors her academic goals, where she aims to harness technological advancements to enable change, all within ethical and legal frameworks. Beyond the competitive arena, her dedication extends to the various altruistic endeavors with her therapy horse, underscoring her commitment to enabling changes for the betterment of society.
As a 12-year-old, Rhiya faced a pivotal moment at the Canadian Equestrian Finals at The Royal Winter Fair, a prestigious event in a vast indoor arena with seating for over 8000 spectators. Riding a horse with a challenging temperament, she encountered an unexpected hurdle when her horse abruptly refused a jump, nearly unseating her in front of the large audience. Despite the immediate setback and the daunting atmosphere, Rhiya demonstrated remarkable composure and resilience. She regrouped, refocused her mind, and successfully guided him over the same jump in the subsequent round, ultimately placing first. This experience instilled in Rhiya invaluable life skills: managing emotions under pressure, maintaining focus on present tasks rather than past failures, and confronting fears head-on. These lessons have profoundly influenced her approach to academic and personal pursuits, fostering a tenacity that drives her to view challenges as opportunities for growth and to strive for excellence in all endeavors.
Rhiya's current endeavors reflect her commitment to integrating engineering and law to safeguard technological innovation in diverse political and economic contexts. As an award-winning Model United Nations delegate, she excels at translating complex ideas into actionable policies. In 2024, she met with the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, Guyana, to gain approval for her TerraWash machine – an off-grid washing solution that she designed using CAD and aligns with UN SDG goals. Her passion for combining technical precision with creativity is evident in her forthcoming children’s book and contributions to school publications, including a science quarterly and a foreign language magazine. Founder of the Poetry Society and a lead performer in musical theatre, Rhiya is a confident communicator. Her involvement in the Robotics and Aeronautics Society has sharpened her engineering acumen, complemented by an internship at a Toronto-based automotive design firm, where she contributed to a patent application for a novel SUV side-step.
Rhiya is also the founder of a miniature therapy horse program that now serves healthcare facilities across the Greater Toronto Area, reaching nearly 1 000 individuals. These experiences continue to shape her ability to navigate complex challenges, understand how to return to her community and reinforce her resolve to drive innovation within ethical and legal frameworks while giving back to her community.
In 2025, Rhiya will attend Brown University’s Pre-College Summer Engineering Program in Space Tourism and Science with further goals of obtaining a degree in Engineering and Law as she moves into University. With a degree in Engineering, she looks forward to delving deeper into engineering and exploring concepts from thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical engineering. With a law degree Rhiya hopes to apply her knowledge from working as an inventor to her practical knowledge in the areas of research and development and manufacturing; particularly to use these skills to help underprivileged people around the world who have been left behind by the rapid global development.
With her competitive athletic drive to be successful, exposure to diverse needs-based communities, her heart of a dreamer and the mind of an engineer, Rhiya envisions a future shaped by cutting-edge technology, and aims to use her skills to shape this future.
